Because we are learner centered.
Because we believe education should look like that 10 year old at the skatepark.
Because we want to activate the agency of the student.
Because we are keen on Astra Nova, 42 Silicon valley, on flipped and on all the hot new ways of learning.
Because we also want to acknowledge Chennai in the year 1890 and the culture of peer-to-peer learning.
Because we want an IMAGE that captures how students learn in MF6M.
Because MF6M practices are of interest to the rural school in India.
Because the pedagogies of MF6M are open source and available as a FB LMS.
Because everyone does it.
Because we are now letting the world into the secret of how to make loud, noisy, activated students.
Because a first year student has a startup based upon his sem 1 project.
Because Weimar mentions 5 metaphors for the teacher – but none for learning.
Because of all this: I am proposing a metaphor.
That of the Flotilla.
A school of boats. Each boat with a team of 3? Okay
Have to navigate choppy seas? Yes
Don’t have access to a teacher on the high seas? Yes
Make it to shore? Always
Hence,
The Flotilla Model.
This is a cryptic post. This is a coded message to the students and staff who were there. (high fives?) For those who journeyed together. Hey, don’t forget!
For others who are not in on the secret. Who want to look in. There is a website. https://sites.google.com/view/mf6m/home. And a video.
